The Daily Dose: f y f e - "We Three Kings"

The Daily Dose: Music every day. It's good for you.

When well-established artists put out Christmas music, they are often met with a mixture of skepticism, surprise, and annoyance. Inevitably, their Christmas offerings occupy a space between the hokeyness and sincerity that define the Christmas season itself. Sufjan Stevens, whose "song conjures the fruitcake world of his own imagination with steadfast pursuit of the inexplicable bliss of Christmas Promises," has put out more well-received indie Christmas music than seemingly imaginable, with the likes of She & Him and Andrew Bird continuing the grab-some-cocoa-and-a-print-copy-of-the-Pitchfork-Review indie Christmas trend. F y f e, however, released a version of "We Three Kings" that is haunting where indie Christmas songs are lovingly corny. Available for free download on his facebook page, you should definitely check it out, regardless of how sick you already are of being constantly soundtracked by endless Christmas tunes.
